Lawn Fawn Exclusive for Simon Says Stamp // Nutty or Nice

It's Stamptember over at Simon Says Stamp, which means that it's time for their annual exclusive stamp (and die!) set from Lawn Fawn! This year's set is an adorable assortment of winter-themed squirrels called Nutty or Nice. This set has lots of smaller images, which would make it great for a shadow box or pop-up box card, but I decided to use the Peekaboo Backdrop to make a card with a series of mini-scenes.

And I used a couple of images to decorate the inside of my card, too!

Here are a few details about the card:

• The images were colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush. I am still a bit Copic-challenged, and I just find the Zigs much easier to work with.
• I stamped the images with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed with clear powder- my go-to when using Zigs since it helps to keep the color inside the lines.
• The little snowflakes are actually from the just-released Winter Skies set. I needed something to use as a bit of filler, and the Lawn Fawn shop actually has a great search feature where you can find out which sets have a certain type of image/design. For example, need a tree? Search for "tree" and you'll get a listing of every Lawn Fawn stamp set with a tree in it. It's a fantastic resource!
• I die cut the Peekaboo Backdrop frame from 80 lb. white cardstock three times and stacked/glued them together using Lawn Fawn's glue tube to give a bit of dimension. I have tried a massive number of liquid adhesives in the past and found all of them lacking. This little tube is super easy to use and works really well for both intricate and large pieces.
• The background was ink blended using Broken China Distress Oxide ink over watercolor paper.
• I wanted to give the tree branch a bit of a shiny look, so I used a Tim Holtz stamping platform to first stamp the branch with Lawn Fawn Doe ink, then stamped over it again using Lawn Fawn's clear embossing ink. I heat set some clear embossing powder into the clear ink, which let the brown ink underneath show through. You can use this technique with any dye ink to get the look of colored embossing powder, but all you really use is clear!

You can pick up this stamp and die set over at Simon Says Stamp during Stamptember...as long as it is in stock! In past years the Lawn Fawn set has sometimes sold out in a matter of a day or two, so don't delay if you want one!
