Project Life at Two Peas - December 2013

Monday, December 23, 2013

This past Saturday was my week to host the Project Life video series over at Two Peas, and I decided to pull out a few new products that I purchased from a recent sale in the shop to make my layout. The Autumn Crisp collection by American Crafts had been calling my name for a while, and I matched it up with the new Printshop line plus just a touch of the Midnight Project Life core kit and a few pieces of the new Daily Flash products from October Afternoon. The result? A layout that uses some fall products but doesn't scream "autumn."

December's Project Life video is actually my last one for Two Peas since I've decided not to return for 2014. I was asked if I wanted to continue with the team for another term, but I just don't have another year of regular videos in me right now, especially with everything else that's going on in my life- good things for sure, but things that definitely keep me very busy! I know that Kristina has some exciting plans for Two Peas in 2014, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the company this year (honestly, I'm still shocked that they ever asked me in the first place).

I'll still occasionally do videos for my blog and for my other design teams, but not with any regularity and most likely on Vimeo instead of YouTube. I'll be sure to post here whenever I have a new one up!

Two Peas December Garden Layout - Let Your Heart Be Light

Thursday, December 12, 2013

It's hard to believe just how quickly 2013 has zoomed by, and it's already December! The last Garden Girl release of 2013 was posted at Two Peas in a Bucket last week, and this time around we all put together holiday layouts. My page shows snippets of last Christmas- just a few of my most favorite sights of the season.

Supplies:

I was completely inspired by the digital cutting files in the Two Peas shop in both the November and December releases, especially the gorgeous script sayings and the chevron Christmas icons. Before I had even selected photos or my other supplies, I knew that I was going to use the "Let Your Heart Be Light" phrase as my title. I cut it out on my Silhouette using a sheet of gold paper from DCWV's Glitzy Glitter cardstock stack. If you're familiar with American Crafts' POW glitter paper, this is pretty much the same stuff, and it cuts amazingly well in the Silhouette.

I also printed out all of the printables from the November and December collections at Two Peas, and I got myself in a creative mood by simply sitting down (or standing, in the cases where I used my paper trimmer) and trimming all of the little pieces out. I find that just preparing my supplies, whether it's trimming cut-apart sheets or laying out a kit on my desk to use, is a great way to kick-start my creativity.

All of the Garden Girls put together such beautiful pages this month! Unfortunately there's not a way that I can link to only the December 2013 layouts, but they'll all be at the top of the Designer Projects category for a little while, until the daily video projects and the eventual January 2014 (I can't believe I just wrote that!) release happens.

Saturday is also my last video in the 2013 Project Life series- time really is flying by!

Project Life at Two Peas - November 2013

Monday, November 25, 2013

Warning- photo heavy post!

On Saturday it was my turn again to host Two Peas weekly Project Life video series, and in this installment I tackled two weeks in my album that I've not quite known how to handle- the weeks we were road tripping around the country. We took thousands of photos in a 15 day time period, and while I don't have them all edited yet (by a long shot), I did sit down and print out just enough of them to complete my Project Life pages for those weeks.

Supplies:

I got really ambitious with this video and put together two layouts at once, flipping back and forth between them on camera until they were both finished. They turned out not to be my favorite Project Life layouts, but they are finished and in the book, and in a huge album like this, that's what really counts.

I also put together a pair of inserts- one for each week- as a fun way to document the states that we visited on our trip using some Studio Calico wood veneer pieces. The page protectors are meant for slides, but you can find similar styles that are used by coin collectors, too, including this set on Amazon.

While putting these layouts together, I didn't worry about getting every photo I liked or telling the story of the entire trip from start to finish (that's what this album is for). Instead, I simply included a few favorite highlights as a sort of overview knowing that I'll be scrapping many other layouts from these photos in the future. Project Life is not the place to stress over being complete and including every little detail- just get it done, move on to the next, and enjoy the journey!
