Project Life at Two Peas - September 2013

Monday, September 30, 2013

My Project Life layout this week is something just a bit different from my norm. There have been lots of questions during the last few months on the Two Peas message boards about beginning and end pages for Project Life albums, so I decided to make that the topic of my video there for September- Confessions of a Cover Page Failure.

While I'm pretty good at getting the weeks in my album scrapped, the front and back cover pages of almost all of my albums are blank. Or they were, until I tackled that portion of my 2012-2013 album and made these layouts to start and finish it.

The whole process is on video, of course, and along with scrapbooking the layouts I've included a short introduction to using digital brushes and show how you can also use the PNG files in Two Peas' digital cut files as digital stamps. There's also a tip about an app to split large photos into several smaller ones that you can have printed at a regular photo lab- just perfect for simulating the look of a cut-up enlargement, but at a fraction of the cost!

It's a Two Peas sort of week around here since tomorrow is the reveal of the October Garden Girl projects, and I'll be back then to share a new mini album!

Project Life 2012 - Week 52 (Lawn Fawn)

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Lawn Fawn is celebrating Christmas a bit early during September's Inspiration Week festivities! The design team has created a pile of projects using the new dies and Christmas stamps and paper, and today I've got a Project Life layout to share using the Peace, Joy, Love collection.

For a few months now I've had one lone little week in my 2012 Project Life album that wasn't complete- the week of Christmas. It wasn't that I didn't want to scrap it or was avoiding it...more like saving it for later since I knew that I'd likely need a Christmas week at some point to show off a new collection for one of my design teams. Lawn Fawn was the first Christmas assignment I've had this release, so they got it, and with this layout my 2012 album is complete!

Often my Christmas photos end up with lots of black in them (a side effect of taking photos of lights and events at night), so the pops of black in Peace, Joy, Love were just perfect to match up with them. The coordinating flair and sequins made for quick and easy embellishments, and I put the Cole's ABCs dies to work (along with a 6x6 self adhesive cork stack from DCWV) to make a few custom titles. I love these alpha dies for making unique letters, and you'll be seeing more of them on my other Inspiration Week layout tomorrow!

You can hop over to the Lawn Fawn blog to see what the other fab Fawny Girls have come up with this month, and I'll be back tomorrow with another bit of Christmas cheer to share!

project life 2012 | week 49

This was one colorful week, both photo and paper-wise! With photos from Christmas trees at work, home, and on a Christmas tree walk in town, not to mention that bright wrapping paper from Target, I wasn't sure which color scheme to go with here, so I chose all of them!

I already had the Take Note collection by Doodlebug out on my desk when I started this page since I'd just finished using it on this layout for Two Peas, and since those colorful rainbow bits didn't really have a chance to shine on that page, I thought I'd give things another go using just this bright collection and not mixing it with anything else. I'm not sure that it actually matched anything here, but it certainly was fun to use!

There's only one layout in my 2012 album that still isn't scrapped- the week of Christmas. And, honestly? I'm not feeling the Christmas vibe at the moment, so I'll wait until the mood strikes to work on it. I made a deal with myself when I got back into Project Life to not worry about being behind on Project Life, ever, and so far, so good, more than a year and a half later. Being caught up is seriously overrated! :)

Some things got swapped around with the Lawn Fawn inspiration week festivities, so I decided to not invade your weekend with Project Life and will instead post one layout today and one tomorrow, and then next week I'll give you a break entirely from all things Project Life related. :)

On Saturday my Project Life video for April went live at Two Peas, and for my layout this month I tried to address a question that was posted recently on the message boards about weeks that combine seasonal/holiday/event photos with everyday life. I had a week of photos that I needed to scrap that included vacation, Christmas prep, and everyday photos in one, and I showed how I drew from common colors in the photos to pull it together. You can check out the video here.

I'm actually a little aggravated with myself that I didn't pull any older supplies out to use for this layout. Two Peas has cleared out so many of the previous releases that I already had in my stash (we're only allowed to use items in the store on our layouts), and I admit I took the easy route and just used all new stuff for this page rather than taking the time to see what older items I have that are still in stock. I feel a bit guilty for doing it, though- I like using older supplies, and it's something I promised to do lots of here this year. So I'm taking some time before filming my next Project Life video to sort through things, and my next Two Peas projects will be back to a mix of mostly old and a little new!
