We made it!

Friday, April 24, 2009

The big demo for work is finally over. Everything went just about as smoothly as it could, and after two months of lots of overtime, I'm glad to see my schedule getting back to normal.

Of course we had to celebrate, so the team went out to dinner after we cleaned up the auditorium. I'd been craving cheese fries for weeks, and when nobody else could think of a place to go I piped up that we were definitely going to Outback. :)

There's a story behind nobody being able to choose a restaurant- our team never can. It's not that we can't agree on where to go (or what to order in), it's just that we can't think of anything in the first place. After a while we settled into this pattern...we'd debate it for about half an hour, and I'd finally just say "we're doing (x)" and Matt would then put me in charge of ordering/reservations. It's just one of the little things about working with a group like this- things fall into a groove and it just works. :)

Easter

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

I loved Karen Russell's post on her Easter photos and how she was not very pleased with them- her list of reasons it can be hard to get a good shot is just great (and I'd like to add to it that sometimes your subject and their Easter basket are on the other side of the table from you, and it's just impossible to get them both in the same shot).

I did have a wonderful Easter at Mom and Dad's. We drove up after church to visit with them and Beth, and Dad grilled steaks. Yumm!!!

I did get a few photos to post, like this one of the "basket" that I made for Mom and Dad, complete with pajama pants for Mom and a new lens case for Dad.

And this one of the basket they gave me. This basket is actually one I used when I was little, and the plastic eggs are from that era, as well. :)

Mom made the cutest pile of stuffed bunnies on the couch.

And of course Dad and I had to get outside to shoot some photos.

The inside shots were taken with my 35mm f/2. I love that lens, though I wish Nikon would make it in a 1.4 or 1.8 (non-DX). The outside photos were taken with my 105mm f/2.8 macro.

May the Fools Be With You

Thursday, April 2, 2009

I. nearly. died. laughing.

When I saw this on ClubJade yesterday. It has to be the best April Fool's joke ever, and unfortunately I have no friends geeky enough to get it. ::sigh::

The sad thing? If they published it, I would probably actually read it. I have this overwhelming compulsion to read anything that says Star Wars on the cover.

There were some other great Star Wars jokes yesterday, like ThinkGeek's Tauntaun sleeping bag.

ClubJade has a great list of all the foolery here. And I'm pretty sure that this was a joke, too.

And this was not a Star Wars joke, but as the owner of an HD-DVD player, I still found it funny.
