Mom's Scrapbook Space

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

I am so far behind on pictures that I want to post here, so I'm going to do a lot of catch-up over the next few days. I'll be back-dating posts just to keep them in order, so if you suddenly see a bunch of February posts in March, don't be alarmed. :)

I visited with Mom and Dad over the weekend and helped Mom organize her scrapbook stash. She had pretty much everything she needed already as far as containers went and will only need to pick up one or two more packs of the Cropper Hopper vertical paper storage packs.

Mom has such great lighting in her studio- I'm so jealous. :)

I also took a bunch of photos with Dad of a pair of huge birds that decided to grace the field on Sunday, but I haven't had time to look through them all yet. I'll post them up when I do.

We got the Pink, we got the Pink, we-got-the-Pink...

Monday, February 9, 2009

Yeah, we got the Pink!!!

Would you look at this stack of February issues of all my magazines? Only Country Living didn't play along with the normal pink theme this year.

This is most likely my last post of pink-ness. The green season (St. Patrick's Day, also my birthday) is almost upon us, and green is my favorite color. I'll be searching high and low for a shamrock or clover punch to use in my card making.

I'm not exactly thrilled with this next batch of cards, made using the sketch in the January issue of Sheetload of Cards. Sheetload is cool, but it's definitely geared toward stamping card makers vs. scrapping card makers. I've learned that I'm mostly certainly a scrappy card maker.

But, you don't learn anything without trying, right? And I don't think these cards are *terrible* (though they may be pretty close). I do love the owl stamp.

Now this next set of cards (the last of my Valentine's cards for the year), these cards I love. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and a Martha Stewart edge punch to create the clean, graphic look that I like in a card.

The only question with these is: to Stickle, or not to Stickle?

Charger Hockey

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Just a few photos I took at the UAH hockey game last weekend. I was expecting it to be more difficult to shoot, but hockey games are actually pretty bright. I used my 105mm macro lens for all of these- it's actually a pretty nice telephoto lens, too!

Am I this desperate for new Star Wars?

Saturday, February 7, 2009

I know, long time, no post. I have not had much scrappy time lately, and the time I have had has been spent editing photos in a mad rush to get prints ordered before a 100 free 4x6 print coupon expired. I should be back to making more new pages soon.

In the meantime, I have squeaked in some time reading a Stargate: SG-1 book because I'm still counting the seconds to March 24 when the new Star Wars Novel (Outcast) is released.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the cover, but hopefully the story will be a good one.

In the meantime, I'm actually considering reading a comic book since a new series has been announced, based in the New Jedi Order time period. I'm not a big comic book reader (as in, I've never read one, though I do have a Rogue Squadron omnibus laying around the library somewhere), but at the moment I'm so desperate for anything besides prequel-era Clone Wars books to read that I might actually try it. The teaser art looks interesting, at least.
