Lawn Fawn // Rooting For You Card

Monday, February 15, 2016

Hello, and a very happy Monday to everyone! I'm back with another card for Lawn Fawn's February installment of their Inspiration Week, and this time I'm using the new Rooting For You stamp set that was part of their CHA Winter 2016 release. All of the new items will be available for purchase on February 18th in the Lawn Fawn shop and at other retailers, and both Simon Says Stamp and Scrapbook.com actually have the entire CHA Winter 2016 release available for preorder right now!

Rooting For You was one of my favorite sets from this release because I love the effect you get from layered stamping. This is Lawn Fawn's first excursion into this type of design, but with their expanding ink line it's a natural direction for them to branch into. Most of the vegetables have two layers- one a solid base and then another to add more detail- and the greens are stamped in two parts, as well.

These are very easy to line up, and if you've been intimidated by layered stamps in the past this would be a great set to start with. The faces are also separate stamps, so you have your choice or kawaii or non-kawaii vegetables depending on your mood. There are examples of both by the Lawn Fawn team over on the company blog, along with intro project videos by Kelly.

This was the card that actually started my watercolor "blob" obsession with this release. I was looking for a cute way to represent dirt and sky and wasn't thrilled with the results I was getting from ink blending. I always love Kay Miller's watercolored cards, and while I'm nowhere near as good as she is, I do like how it turned out on my projects!

Like yesterday's card, I cut the watercolor background using the largest of the Small Stitched Rectangles dies and adhered it to a card base made from 100 lb Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. The sentiment is stamped using Versamark ink and white embossing powder to make it pop off of the brown background.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Tomorrow Lawn Fawn will be showcasing their new Perfectly Plaid paper collection, and I'll have two layouts to share. See you then!
