Friday Favorites: Happy Easter!!

Friday, April 22, 2011

While I only have one Easter related craft in this week's roundup, it is filled with gorgeous springtime colors!!! So let's see what goodies we have this week, shall we?

From left to right:
  •  This cute little Peeps bunting hails from A Million Memories, where you can get the step-by-step lowdown.
  • You guys know what I huge fan I am of making my own scrapbooking kits (Counterfeit Kit, anyone?), and now Christine Middlecamp is going to have a semi-regular feature on her blog in which she creates some kits, too! Her first one is simply drool-worthy! (You can read more about it here.)
  • I've often considered curtaining off a portion of my scrap room (it also doubles as a guest room), and this example by Prudent Baby is exactly how I'd do it!
  • Creature Comforts has some great ways to use decorative tape for gift wrapping.
  • Alissa Fast gets this week's award for "Most Creative Use of a Cupcake Wrapper on a Card." I love it!
  • Unclutterer featured this beautiful studio as a Workspace of the Week. The white walls and pops of color are so inspiring!
  • Lisa Pace shares a tutorial for making cute little favor pouches.
  • Pugly Pixel has teamed up with The Gilded Bee again to offer more downloadable digital elements- this time there's a set of gorgeous paper roses to be had.
  • Jennifer McGuire shares the coolest storage idea I've seen for dies yet- it takes up almost zero extra space!!
Have a scrappy weekend!!

This Is Me...

Thursday, April 21, 2011

...hanging in there! My Mom sent me this adorable image yesterday, and it certainly applies to today!! Let's just say that someone at work promised they would deliver something to me LAST THURSDAY and finally delivered it to me on Tuesday of this week...only it didn't work!! So we went round and round again (with many, many emails to many levels of management) until I finally got what I needed...and it still doesn't work! And the whole time our customer, who needed said item for a test event, has been most displeased at the massive schedule delay.

And the best part? The whole thing has canceled my usual off Friday tomorrow (I work an extra hour each day so as to have alternate Fridays off- it's a normal work schedule at my company, so not out of the ordinary), which sent my stress level through the roof.

Deep breaths, though, because at least I'll still have the weekend, and I have great plans to finish an article for Scrapbook Update on Saturday. I will be hiding my cell phone for fear that they will call me back in, though...

I also purchased two fantastic digital kits today, and I feel like it's time to sit down and actually make my first all-digital layout (because goodness knows I have enough digital supplies). That will happen this weekend, and I'll be sure to share it here!

Want to see the pretties I bought?

I'm totally in love with this one- Nostalgia by Jen Allyson. Could those colors be any more yummy?!?!!?

And there there's Sorriso from Paisless Press. Ummm, yes, please? And for some reason I'm totally loving that ink splatter.

And on the paper front, I picked up a new punch at JoAnn last night- I've been wanting the Fiskars Postage Stamp border punch for a while!

How can I possibly stay stressed with so many new pretties? It's time to get scrapping!

Project 12: March 2011 (Counterfeit Kit)

Wow, so this particular Project 12 layout? I have no idea what happened, but it absolutely would not come together for me.

Project 12 March 2011.jpg

I don't know what it was- I had trouble with the colors, with the element placement (oh, geez, did I ever have trouble with the element placement)- and I was even using a sketch!!! Nothing would work!! Not even my trusty April Counterfeit Kit could pull me out of this one, even though it's made some layouts super easy this month.

So, in the end I decided that instead of spending hours trying to get it just right, it was probably better left alone. And, actually? I'm kinda starting to like it now. I guess you have to take a deep breath and step back from some layouts for a while before you feel better about them.

I did totally love using more of my Fancy Pants "It's The Little Things" chipboard- those banners are just too cute!

And, really, I think it was just this corner of the layout that really gave me fits- I just didn't know what to put here!! I probably should have just left the block of paper blank, but it's done now.

So, I'm curious- what do you guys do when you have trouble with a layout? Tear it up and start over? Live with it? Send silent prayers to the Heavens that it will magically work itself out? Give a girl a hint, please!!!
