Lawn Fawn // September Inspiration Week

Friday, October 16, 2015

So, obviously I'm posting just a bit more sporadically than I intended! Star and Bee had its biggest month ever in September, and October is already looking like it's going to be even bigger!

I completely missed posting my September Inspiration Week projects here, though I did get them finished in time to post on the Lawn Fawn blog. You may have seen them over there already, but I thought I'd post them all here with a little background information before the next Inspiration Week starts...tomorrow. There are two layouts and four cards to show, all in one post, so let's get started!

Lawn Fawn's Let's Bokeh in the Snow is part of their Christmas release, but when I was scrapping this page in early September, all I could think of was the beach! I was at our house in Mobile (where Darren is in school), and Dauphin Island is less than an hour away. We've driven there a few times just to wander around, and I had some photos from our most recent trip printed up. They paired nicely with the aqua blue and off white patterns in the collection, and I added in some embossed vellum circles (made with the Let's Bokeh stamp set) and sequins to create a sort of watery, bubbly look.

The next layout proves that I was in no way ready to scrap anything remotely winter or Christmas related...instead I pulled out some state fair photos from a couple of years ago and used some blues and greens on my page. This layout was actually inspired by the Baah Humbug stamp set, and I heat embossed one of the cute little sheep in gold (again on vellum...can you tell that vellum is one of my favorite things?) to use as an embellishment.

This card using the Scripty For You die and Let's Bokeh stamp set is probably one of my favorite things that I made for September's release. I used the solid circle stamps from the set and lots of different colors of Lawn Fawn's ink (I just love the coverage they give!) to make a rainbow of bubbles, then layered up four die cuts from white cardstock to make a dimensional die cut to adhere in the middle.

All the cards in my last set of projects to share today were made with the Merry Christmouse stamp set (exclusive to Simon Says Stamp for their Stamptember promotion), which sold out in an insanely short amount of time (the dies were gone in under 24 hours!)- so short that they didn't even get posted to the Lawn Fawn blog because the stamps were gone before the post was scheduled to go up!

I had a lot of fun coloring these images with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (try saying that 5 times fast!), and I actually started out just coloring and die cutting a bunch of images without any real idea of how I would eventually use them on cards. Sometimes when I scrapbook I like to make elements in batches- embellishment clusters, backgrounds, etc.- and then figure out how to use them later. The same thing can work really well for cards, and is a great way to take advantage of the days you feel like just coloring vs. the days you feel like designing things and gluing stuff together.

I have another pair of layouts, a card, and a card set ready to go for this month's Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week, and my plan is to get those posted in a more timely manner- starting tomorrow!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a great day!
