This month's Scrapbook Circle kit was absolutely perfect for scrapbooking fall photos, and for this layout I chose to document one of my favorite "coping" mechanisms for fall...doing lots of shopping at Bath and Body Works. :)

You can read more about my obsession with all things pumpkin at B+BW here, but let's suffice it to say that for someone who hate cold weather, it's nice to have something about fall to look forward to!

Ever since my Style Reboot, I find that I get a lot more of these types of layouts done- layouts that document fun little things and not just the big events. washington dc october 2011

Flying out to Washington, D.C. in October to visit Darren's brother's family is starting to become a "thing" for us. We love that AirTran has settled in to the Huntsville International Airport quite nicely and has great fare prices to places like Nassau, Aruba, Orlando, and even Baltimore, which is a mere hour or so of public transportation from D.C. itself.

After landing at BWI, we took a shuttle to the MARC/Amtrak station, purchased tickets on the next train to the D.C. Metro station (a mere $6.00 each- can't beat that), and then walked around a bit while we waiting for our train to arrive.

The MARC station is connected to some nearby businesses and parking areas by an elevated walkway running through a gorgeous bit of forest, so we spent some time strolling around before settling in for the rest of our wait.

darren's birthday dinner

Darren's birthday was last week, but since we both had to work that day (he doesn't take off on his birthdays like I tend to), we ended up just going out to dinner to celebrate.

I left work a little early so I could bake his cake before we went out (vanilla cake with mango cream sauce, which I never photographed because we were so exhausted when we got home from dinner), and I also spent a few minutes whipping up something special to wrap his gift in. I used some scraps from my Echo Park Happy Days papers to decorate a little box that I cut on my Wishblade (come on, you know I had to get something scrappy in here, right? :) ). 

Dinner was at Papou's- a great little Greek restaurant in (what passes for) downtown Huntsville.
