It started out as a single project- a big vacation album that I'm putting together for Two Peas in July in coordination with Simple Stories. And somewhere along the way while collaborating with their new marketing director, Layle Koncar, I was invited to join the brand new Simple Stories Life Documented team- and I couldn't be more thrilled! I was just a teensy bit apprehensive about taking on a new design team, but when they said that all they needed was a Project Life layout every six weeks or so, I was in. I'm doing Project Life every week, anyway, and I truly love the new 12x12 Pocket Pages (scroll down a bit for a review/comparison of those), so it doesn't add to my workload (or take away from the stashbusting posts!) and is a product I'm happy to be working with. I love that it worked out!
My first post for them is up on the Simple Stories blog today and is a week in my Project Life album using the Vintage Bliss collection.
Supplies:
I sat down with the Vintage Bliss papers, journaling card pad, and embellishments and had this layout finished in an hour. Honestly, I've learned over the last year or so that an hour is the length of my attention span for a Project Life week (or any layout, really), and having a coordinated kit of supplies all ready to work with goes a long way toward making that happen. Whether it's a collection pack or a monthly kit, having all the papers and embellishments picked out ahead of time makes things so much easier!
I was really excited about the new Simple Stories 12x12 Pocket Pages at CHA Winter 2013 (you can see a photo tour of their booth that I posted here), and of course I had to put them through the "3x4 Test" as soon as I had them in my scrap room. I'm pleased to report that the 3x4 pockets are truly big enough to fit a 3x4 journaling card, and, depending on which pocket you're using, a few are even slightly oversized enough to hold a 3x4 Sn@p pocket (I'll be showing that on my upcoming Project Life video for Two Peas this coming Saturday).
Until now, only page protectors Me and My Big Ideas have passed this test, and I'm happy to have found another brand that works and is more widely available, especially on the international side. These Pocket Pages and albums will be shipping to stores in early July. You can see my previous page protector comparisons in this post.
There are ten different configurations of the new Pocket Pages, and I've put together PDF planner sheets for nine of them (one is just a plain 12x12) that you can download here.
Oh, and that teal album in the photos above? I have it on hand for the travel project I'm working on, and out of curiosity I stuck it in my IKEA Expedit shelving unit to see if it would fit. Good news- it does! I know lots of scrappers use these bookcases for their albums, so hopefully that helps you guys a little. :)
I'm so excited to be a part of the amazing group of ladies on the Life Documented team, and I'm looking forward to sharing more Project Life pages with Simple Stories in the coming months, along with the travel project I mentioned earlier and one other! I do love my travel albums. ;)
