Friday Favorites- Vintage Seed Packets and Photography Tips

Friday, March 5, 2010

I've got some super-cool stuff for this week's Friday Favorites!

From left to right:
  • The Smithsonian Institute has a huge library of high-quality scans of vintage seed packets (Darren found this one for me- thank you!). There are many different brands and types available (for free!), and often both the front and back images are available. If you need project ideas, Melissa Phillips has some gorgeous cards on her blog this week that feature vintage seed packet images.
  • Christine Middlecamp (on the Crate Paper blog) shares this adorable layout along with several different techniques and tips for adding similar details to your own layouts.
  • Kathy Thompson is posting lessons from her Photography For Scrapbookers class on her blog.
  • Alissa Fast has another great mini album on her site. I love the colors!
  • For tips on making your digital photos really pop, check out this post on the Ella Publishing blog. They even provide a free action for quickly re-creating the steps in Photoshop Elements.
  • Hungry Heffy Crafts has a video tutorial on making this cute pop-out card.
  • Artsy Mama has posted pictures of her thrifting scrapbook. She took photos of her favorite thrifting finds (many of which she has since sold) and made them into a scrapbook. I love the colors, and what a great idea for being able to remember an item without actually having to store it.
  • For more photography tips, check out this post on Decor8 linking to many other posts and tutorials about photo styling and setup. Great for learning to do still lifes or improving photography for your blog.
  • For a cute project, check out this photo block tutorial. One of these would make a great gift!
Have a scrappy weekend! I'll be back tomorrow with another semi-geekish post. :)
