Lawn Fawn kicked off the October installment of their monthly Inspiration Week feature yesterday with the Big Giveaway Post, and today there's a new batch of projects up using the Yeti, Set, Go stamp set. Or, as the design team calls it, Yetiiiiiiiiiiiiii! We are all seriously in love with this little guy, and I especially love it because it totally reminds me of the wampa from Star Wars. You know, the ice creature? I had some photos of one in my Star Wars Celebration VI pictures, so I pulled them out and scrapped them for my first Inspiration Week layout this month!
Supplies:
Near the end of the convention both my brother and I were feeling a little punchy, and I was posing with a roundhouse kick at most of the exhibits (like these photos with Roxy the Rancor). As I was scrapping this page, all I could think was "I didn't turn my hip over all the way," but, then again, I was trying to hold the kick up and not just throw it. :)
I thought about just stamping the cute little Yeti, but I've been wanting to try using stamps as stitching template since watching Marie's tutorial on the Lawn Fawn blog earlier this year and decided to try that out instead. It took a little time to sew in all the little details, but I think he turned out really cute!
Instead of putting lots of paper layers behind my photos as I normally do, I decided to create a circular cluster of punched shapes and sequins using paper and embellishments from the Into the Woods collection. I glued down a circle of silver twine (after lightly tracing a circle onto my background cardstock using a small plate) to connect everything together, then put my photo block over it using foam dots to help account for the extra thickness of the twine.
I finished my layout off with a title cut from felt (I just bought the 6x9 sampler pack from Benzie's on Etsy and love it) using Cole's ABCs dies.
The other Fawny girls have lots of serious Yeti adorableness going on over on the Lawn Fawn blog today, too, so be sure to check it out!
