geek girl | playing with your food

One of the coolest things about being an adult is that nobody can tell you not to commit food-related offenses (you know, like eating raw cookie dough). In honor of this momentous freedom that comes along with being responsible for your own mortgage, car payment, and heath insurance, I've rounded up some of the finest food-related works from geeks who've elevated playing with their food to an art form.

From left to right:
  • This Stormtrooper/Darth Vader cake was created for a very lucky kidlet's birthday.
  • I'm amazed at the detail (just look at those ears!!) on this Yoda cake. But does anyone else think it could be colored peachy-pink and pass for Dobby the House Elf, too?
  • I had a serious squee-fest over these adorkable chocolate truffles topped with Star Wars characters. They're almost too cute to eat!
  • No wedding would be complete without a lightsaber cake knife, would it? Of course, if you're really cool, you'll use the Force to cut and serve the cake...
  • Speaking of geeks and weddings, this R2 D2 cake was created as the groom's cake for a recent wedding. What do you want to bet it upstaged the main event? :)
  • If sweets aren't really your thing (there's only so much cake one can eat, anyway...at least that's what I've been told), then perhaps this Han Solo in carbonite ice cube tray is your cup of tea...if you like your tea cold, that is.
  • For those who really want to play with their food, I suggest getting your toys involved. Try breaking out your Stormtrooper action figure (come on, I know you have at least one) and catching some great shots like this one.
  • Channel a more zen form of food art with this Chewbacca bento box. Soba will never, ever be the same again!
  • And, finally, for the ultimate in food geekery, pair a love of fire with a certain lovable astromech droid, and let the grilling begin!
Until next time, geek out (and chow down), peeps!
