The graphic above actually contains images from the upcoming A Type of Art Stack, which is just one of many new releases this round. DCWV was kind of enough to send me three of their new collections to play with ahead of the release, and today I'm happy to share with you peeks and layouts not only of A Type of Art, but also Gilded Orchard and Stardust.
I'll get things started with the Gilded Orchard Stack, filled with pretty florals and a lovely late-summer/early fall-ish color pallete- lots of turquoise, deep pink, and green here! Half of the prints in this stack also include foil and glitter accents.
There's a great mix of pattern types in this stack- everything from big, all-over prints to papers with some of the page design elements (think borders and journaling spots) already printed in place, to papers like the subtle turquoise leaf print below that reads almost like a solid. There's also a sheet of journaling blocks and several other papers perfect for fussy cutting your own embellishments.
I included a little bit of pretty much every color in the collection on my layout below (photos from my birthday earlier this year), and threw in a few embellishments from Jolee's French General line to finish things off. I just happened to have a few packages of these pretties on my desk when I pulled the Gilded Orchard papers out, and immediately thought that the two would work well together. The large flowers, the label, and the journaling block are hand-cut from two different patterned papers in the package, and the little peek of text-print paper is from the A Type of Art Stack that I'll share a little later in this post.
This next Stack, Stardust, was my immediate favorite of the group. With all the astronomy and space themed prints, you knew that Geek Girl was going to love it, right?!!? :)
While this stack is tightly themed, the prints could really be used for any number of subject. For example, the stars below bring to mind Independence Day, graduation, birthday, or perhaps even prom. Many of the other prints (half of which are foiled or glittered, making them extra shiny) are just as versatile, like the purple with a white starburst pattern and several stylized globe prints.
I chose to go geeky with it (of course!) and also ended up using it on the grungiest layout of the three I'm sharing today.
The background of the page is a sheet of plain cardstock from the coordinating Stardust cardstock stack (which includes some great foil and glitter cardstocks, as well). To create the gold accents, I used a Pink Paislee Mistables mask and Versamark ink, messily pressing the pad on the template to intentionally grunge up some of the "stars" on the edges. I then heat embossed with Gold Glitter Zing by American Crafts before finishing the rest of the page. (The photo is an unintentional self-portait I took of myself while trying to photograph a bunch of Star Wars merchandise in a shop window in Chattanooga.)
The final stack I'm sharing with you today is A Type of Art, which is the perfect stack for typography and text print lovers!
The papers in this Stack (half of which contain glossy, embossed accents) are all letter, number, and punctuation prints (how awesome is that ampersand paper above?!?), and with the variety of colors and styles included it would be a great collection to have on hand for layering and neutral tone additions to many of DCWV's other Stacks.
A Type of Art stands perfectly well on its own for layouts, too, and I used it on the page below about our love of reading while on vacation (photos from our trip to Nassau in December 2010). For this page I stuck with the white, turquoise, and yellow prints in the Stack, but there are lots of great oranges and pinks in the collection, too, that could be used to create a totally different look.
All of DCWV's new stacks for JoAnn are scheduled to star appearing on store shelves this week, though actual availability will of course depend on your local store's delivery and stocking schedules. I'll also be sharing Project Life layouts made with each of these stacks over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for that!
