We're finally, finally, finally starting to see some sunshine and warmer temperatures here, meaning that soon I'll be spending lots of time outside and not bemoaning the fact that both Downton Abbey and Sherlock are finished for their respective seasons, with a couple of months to go still until Doctor Who starts up again. It'll instead be a time for running, gardening, and relaxing and reading books and blogs on my iPad in the back yard.

Speaking of blogs, here are my nine geeky picks from blogland this week. Enjoy!

From the top left:
  • I'm always amazed at the creativity of the artists on Etsy. They come out with the most amazing ideas, like these Star Wars terrarium necklaces and rings by The House of Boo.
  • The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles look awesomely adorable atop these cupcakes featured at Between the Pages.
  • This gorgeous planetarium watch not only tells time, but it also shows accurate positions of the five planets closest to Earth as they orbit the sun.
  • Artist James Hance, famous for his Wookie the Chew paintings, has expanded the mashup into photography in a most squee-worthy manner.
  • Actor Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) recently released a set of behind-the-scenes photos from the filming of the original trilogy. There are some absolute gems in this set!
  • Oh, the things you'll find on the web site of the I Can Has Cheezburger network...like a Dalek made from a cheese grater!
  • Hello, Ruby is a new book by Finnish computer programmer Linda Liukas that helps children learn the principles of writing code. This software engineering geek gives the concept two thumbs way up!
  • When Geeks Wed posted a roundup of geeky confections by Cake's Cove, including this gorgeous Death Star cake.
  • Captain American macarons? Yes, please! You'll find these and lots of other geeky superhero party ideas at Hostess with the Mostess.
